Meet the Supervisor
Dee Brown began her employment at the Supervisor of Elections office on January 2, 1979. Her first duties as Deputy were that of finance and statistics. She became the Chief Deputy in 1985. Upon the retirement of the incumbent Supervisor, she was elected in 1986. She has been re-elected in 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, and 2008.
Dee is a native of nearby Lake County. She and her husband Jerry moved to Ocala in 1974 after he retired from the United States Air Force. They are the parents of six children and grandparents to 12 grandchildren. Dee graduated from Umatilla High School and attended Florida Southern College.
Dee is a member of FSASE (Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections), IACREOT (International Association of Clerks, Recorders, Election Officials, and Treasurers), Altrusa International of Ocala, Ocala/Marion County Chamber of Commerce, Marion County Cattleman's Association, and St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She has served as Secretary, Vice-President, President Elect, and President of FSASE. She has likewise held several offices in Altrusa prior to becoming President in 2001-2002. She has been awarded an Honorary Lifetime Membership by Ocala Junior Woman's Club, served as President of Fine Arts for Ocala during her 20 year membership, and received the 1988 Ocala Jaycee's Good Government Award. She is a graduate of Leadership Ocala I.
In her free time Dee likes to read, relax with her family and friends, and shop for antiques. She is involved in a number of community activities including United Way.
